General Purpose Statement:
The activities promote youth development, reduce risk-taking behaviors, build assets and resilience, and prevent problem behaviors, particularly in youth ages 12-17.
Measurable Objectives:
Four prevention core measures for the Government Performance Results Act (GPRA) include:
- Frequency of use in the pasts 30 days
- Perception of harm or risk
- Perception of disapproval of use by peers and by adults
- Age of onset of any drug use
Funding Sources:
The Prevention Coalition is primarily funded from two sources: SICA and DFC. State Incentive Cooperative Agreement dollars ($214,704-15 months) and SAMHSA Drug Free Communities dollars ($100,000/year) have been ongoing sources. SICA is in its second year and DFC dollars will be in in its sixth year in 2008.

There are over 50 active project partners involved in the Start of Track Prevention Coalition. Project Partners are active in neighborhood coalitions, with special projects and advocacy, with public education and on the Prevention Leadership Team.
